Send-off & Welcome: The Faithful of the Moharpara Mission, gathered together on 3rd Feb.19 at the centre. It was for a 2-fold function: 1. to welcome and receive the new priests of the Mission, Rev. Arul Jeganathan csc and Fr. Alfred DSouza csc, and 2. to bid farewell to Fr. Agi Paul csc. The Day commenced with the Holy Mass, presided over by Fr. Agi Paul. During the Eucharist, the new Parish Priest was installed by Fr. Jevan Kennedy SVD. A short felicitation Programme was organized in honour of the out-going & in-coming Fathers. Fr. Simon F csc {Provincial}, thanked / appreciated Fr. Agi for his selfless-service to the Parish and to the School. He also thanked Fr. Arul J for the willingness to take up the Parish. With the sharing of a community-meal, the day came to an end. Marriage-Preparation Course: Marriage Preparation course was conducted in the Parish on 8th Feb.19 for the couples whose marriages were scheduled before the Lenten Season. 7 couples from different sub-centres participated in the program. The resource persons were Mr. Uttam Roy Jamatia and Thomas Hrangkhawl {Catechist}. The program ended with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided over by Fr. Arbok Lyngdoh csc {Parish Youth Animator}. Silver Jubilee - Gamaku: Yesu Krista Jayanti Church at Gamaku celebrated its Silver Jubilee of its Faith, on 17th Feb. 19. The celebration began with the Triduum service from 15th Feb. Marriages were rectified and those desired were baptized. On the last day, a 3-hr long Adoration was conducted, during which the faithful approached the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The Jubilee celebration began with the unveiling of the Jubilee Memorial Stone, by Most Rev. Lumen Monteiro {Bishop: Diocese of Agartala}, who also presided over the Jubilee Eucharist with five other concelebrants. Focusing on the Jubilee-Theme: Heavenly Father that they may be one as we are one - John 17:22, he encouraged the faithful to keep their faith alive and active, while maintaining a spirit of unity and collaboration among them. The celebration was solemnized by 118 candidates receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. Cultural and felicitation programs added colour to the Jubilee Celebrations, which included the releasing of the Jubilee Souvenir by the Shepherd. With a festive-meal, the jubilee-celebration ended. Chapel Inauguration and Blessing: St. Teresa Church at Sonkhola {sub-centre} was blessed and inaugurated by Bp. Lumen Monteiro on 10th Mar.19. It was a great blessing for the faithful and the villagers as it was the first visit of the Bishop to Sonkhola. The people were overjoyed as they prayerfully witnessed the blessing of the new Chapel, in the context of the Holy Eucharist. What is noteworthy is that the chapel was constructed to its completion with the financial support of all the Mothas of the Parish. A short cultural program was organized to honour God for his blessing, to thank the benefactors for their generosity and to felicitate the Bishop for his presence. Zonal Lenten Retreat: Moharpara Parish organized a 3-day Lenten Retreat at zonal level, for all the four zones of the Parish, namely: Moharpara, Twithampui, Twidu and Ampi. The preachers were Rev. Devadoss csc, Fr. Paul CR csc, Mr. Manoranjan Debbarma and a team from AICU. Through the Sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation, the Retreatants were given an opportunity to experience God's love and forgiveness respectively. The Word of God strengthened their faith. It was a first-of-its-kind program, and people responded positively.
