He worked for a short while as a missionary in Ghana and Dhaka in Bangladesh and at parishes in Meghalaya and Tripura. Most of his services were focused in giving formation and counselling to the young students in formation houses, schools or college. Fr. George Kallungal was a deeply spiritual person and a faithful religious of Holy Cross. He used to spend long hours in prayer in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. He was a cheerful and affectionate person with a positive attitude and an inspiration to many generations of Holy Cross priests. He was a person of many values in his life and he was like the conscience keeper of the community on many occasions. He was a good singer, a gifted speaker and retreat preacher. He was very effective in giving inspirational seminars and sessions to the youth. Many have benefitted from his counselling skills and the students and teachers whom he has counselled speak highly of him and are deeply grateful to him for the help they received. He had a great mastery over the English Language and he was also a good editor and proof reader for many important documents of Holy Cross School as well as the Province of Northeast India when he was healthy. We will miss his physical presence, but console ourselves with the thought that the Congregation of Holy Cross, Province of northeast India will now have a heavenly intercessor in the person of Fr.
